Why are questions powerful?

I should start defining what powerful means. From my point of view, something is poweful when it has a strong impact on something else. If we consider that the purpose of asking a question is to seek for an answer, then, we could say that a powerful question is the kind of question that has a strong impact on the person being asked.

Powerful questions can lead the person to uncharted territories, situate the queried in a position that they have never been before, and confront them with answers than create new realities. However, not all questions are powerful. The kind of inquiries that have such power are the open-ended questions, specifically the ones begining with how and what.

I believe that in order to become a good interviewer, the person has to be a good listener first. The main reason for that is that if you are asking a question, then, you have to listen for the answer whether or not you like it. In addition, it is not just the information that comes with the answer but the story behind that information.
