What is

IMMUNITY TO CHANGE

Immunity to change is a tool created by the Harvard University Professors Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey. The tool is presented as a framework that helps us understand why sometimes is so difficult to introduce a change in our personal or professional life. Although I will be referring to this tool on the personal development context, it can be also applied on organizational settings.

Sometimes, when we want to introduce a significant change in the way we behave, we find that it is easier to say than to do, and eventually, we give up. Our rationale will find a logic explanation to justify our failure. However, what we do not know is that, inside us, there are unconscious forces working against the change we want to implement.

The same as our body, our brain has its own immune psychological system rejecting any new behavioral attitude trying to defy the current unconscious rational.
